Renowned 3D artist BN Vichar visited Datsi School for Storytellers, for an informative session with the students
Recognized as one of the world's top digital sculptors, Vichar brought immense value to the students at Datsi School. With over 18 years of experience in production and gaming, as well as a diverse background in various art forms, he provided invaluable insights into the world of art.
Vichar began by describing his awe-inspiring experience at a temple adorned with intricate epics on its walls, comparing this art to animation with its storytelling in each frame. He shared his personal journey, from aspiring to have his work exhibited in palaces to embracing technology. Vichar eloquently portrayed artists in animation as creators who breathe life into their works, akin to demigods.
Respect for fellow artists was a recurring theme in Vichar's session. He emphasized the importance of studying and learning from other artists, along with appreciating the contributions of great masters like Bernathelo Alberti. Vichar encouraged students to explore India's rich artistic heritage.
While he acknowledged that there is no fixed process in art, Vichar highlighted that mastering the fundamentals and thought processes should take precedence over software skills. He introduced references such as Rafael graffiti, Filippo Brunelleschi (the father of perspective), and Victor Parade (known for his book 'Anatomy for artists').
Vichar's session effectively explained the fundamentals of art in a practical and tactile manner, enhancing students' understanding. An interactive assignment allowed students to apply these newfound lessons, solidifying their learning.
During the Q&A, students sought advice on finding inspiration and overcoming creative blocks. Vichar, along with the faculty at Datsi, encouraged them to work diligently, explore new artistic avenues, adapt their methods when necessary, and draw inspiration from their surroundings.
Vichar's visit made a profound impact, inspiring students to further develop their artistic skills. Datsi eagerly anticipates his return, recognizing the enduring value he brings to our educational journey.
